Abstract:
Together with Dredging International, Baggerwerken Decloedt is one of the primary operating companies of DEME Group, representing our core business.
Keeping the sea lanes open, construction of some of the world’s biggest ports and protection of the coastal population against flooding and the violence of the seas - such has been the business of Baggerwerken Decloedt for over 100 years.
Over the years, technology and plant have changed, awareness of environmental needs has increased and imperatives of sustainable development have permeated activities. But the skills have been passed on from generation to generation. We know every single shoal and every single bar on the maritime accesses to Antwerp, Ostend or Zeebugge. We are familiar with the currents on the shallow Flemish Banks. We have built the outer port and the inner harbour of Zeebrugge. We have replenished our beaches. We constantly monitor the marine environment in the sensitive Scheldt estuary.
