Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive

The Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive (Council Directive 91/271/EEC concerning urban waste-water treatment) was adopted on 21 May 1991. The aim of this directive is to protect the aquatic environment from the adverse effects of urban waste water and waste water from industrial sectors. The Directive regulates the collection, treatment and discharge of domestic water, mixture of waste water and waste water from certain industrial sectors.
