==Review by Dominic Reeve (January 2013)==

The existing text provides a helpful introduction to the subject. It reads well and is of an appropriate length and detail. My only quibbles would be that given the amount of work in the area more references should be provided. Also, there is no discussion of some of the practical issues that can arise (some are discussed in Reeve et al 2012). Additionally, an excellent presentation of theory, methods, techniques and case studies has been published by CIRIA (2010).

Typographical points:

To carry out an artificial nourishment project, various methods can be applied; see e.g. xxxx) – include references

This phenomenon, however, is a well-known coastal feature; one cannot ‘unpunished’ create a disturbance in the coastal zone. – Ambiguous English. Suggest ‘This phenomenon, however, is a well-known coastal feature; one cannot create a disturbance in the coastal zone without some recompense.’
