As part of the EMODnet project (http://www.emodnet-biology.eu), a standardized species attributes vocabulary is being developed so that selected European marine species can be tagged with relevant attributes information and be made available through the World Register of Marine Species ([http://www.marinespecies.org/ WoRMS]) and the [http://emodnet-biology.eu/portal/ EMODnet biological portal].

A concept can by any trait which is connected to other traits in an hierarchical manner. To create a new marine species concept you need to type the name of the page where the concept will be stored into the mstConcept form. Marinespecies traits pages always need to contain the prefix '''Traits:''', and will be followed by a suffix which will also be used to create the URI of the concept. When typing in the pagename of an existing concept the autocomplete will list existing pages.

About

The hierarchy of traits has been organised into a series of four "collections" to aid navigation and use. Use the search box to find the term or definition of interest.

This wiki hosts the Marine Species Traits Vocabulary. All terms and their definitions have yet to be stabilized, and so should be considered 'under development'. The following concepts have not yet been assigned a collection:Brooding, NonBrooding

Contacts

One application of this vocabulary is that selected European marine species can be tagged with relevant attribute information and be made available through the World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS) and the EMODnet biological portal.
