also additional parent possibilities here, for the data owner who wants to be more specific than "mixed" but cannot commit to either sandy mud or muddy sand. Not that I love the idea of making this more complicated. Could any of this be replaced by numeric/continuous traits? -Jen Hammock Agree as well. Also, often the literature provides something like "sand" - would that be coarse? fine? both? Better to have a broad category "Sand" and underneath "coarse sand" "fine sand", "muddy sand" etc. -Sarah Faulwetter Have modified, with inclusions from Long 2006.
