Abstract:
DHI Water & Environment is an independent, international consulting and research organization, member of GTS (Advanced Technology Group), which is a grouping of independent Danish research and technology organizations forming the core of the technological infrastructure in Denmark. DHI’s consulting services are based on the development and application of know-how and advanced technologies within ecology and environmental chemistry, water resources, hydraulic structures, hydrodynamics and other areas related to the water environment. The Institute has approximately 300 employees in Denmark, 2/3 of which has an academic background. One of the fundamental disciplines at DHI is coastal hydraulics. This was in fact the starting point in 1964; since then DHI has been at the forefront within the development and application of advanced methods of numerical modeling. This has been in response to challenges from a large number of coastal projects, such as coastal erosion and littoral impact studies. Morphological models are also the subject of research and development.
