Brightlingsea

Administrative Port: Lowesoft
County: Essex
Population: 8076

Brightlingsea is a coastal town in the county of Essex, England. It is situated at the mouth of the River Colne, on Brightlingsea Creek. Its traditional industries included fishing (Brightlingsea once had a renowned oyster fishery) and shipbuilding, however these have declined significantly. Brightlingsea was for many years twinned with French oyster fishery port Marennes, Charente-Maritime, but the relationship fell into disuse. To the west of the town on the creek is Western Promenade, a popular destination for tourists and those coming from the capital London.
